Blood Buster

Jerry Baker's books have the most amazing household tips and helpful hints. Here's another good one! If you can't get to a blood stain right away and it's had a chance to make itself at home, hydrogen peroxide may not do the trick. Try this instead: - Similiar recipes
Daryoles Medieval Custard Pie Recipe

Daryoles Medieval Custard Pie Recipe

This is a medieval egg custard pie with almond milk, saffron, cinnamon, and rosewater. It takes some careful attention, but is worth the time and trouble. This is extremely rich! You will want to serve thin slices, much like a cheesecake. This recipe doesn’t take kindly to being halved, though. A variation on a dish featured in "Two Fifteenth-Century Cookery-Books" by Thomas Austin. - Similiar recipes

Bookbinding and Leather Glue

Posted by request; this is from an old arts and crafts recipe book. I've used it for making cardboard and cloth/paper book projects with the kids, though I haven't tried to repair actual books with it so can't vouch for that. According to the recipe, it is excellent for binding leather to leather and is a flexible glue for paper or gluing cloth to cardboard, etc. This makes about 1/3 cup; you can double it for larger projects. - Similiar recipes

Borage Soup

This dark green soup may be served hot or cold, but served cold is perfect for summer dinner parties or that extra special picnic. Both borage flowers and leaves are edible. Because it is a tonic plant for the adrenal glands, borage provides an invaluable support for a stressful lifestyle. Borage is rich in minerals, especially potassium. From Mary Lawrence & Jane Newdick, The Miniature Book of Flowers as Food, Crescent Books, 1991. Cooking time is chilling time. - Similiar recipes

Chili Base Recipe

Great chili starter recipe. As stated in the book, you can use this base as the foundation of your own chili recipe. (I found this in the Marlboro Country Cookbook called "Morning Fires, Evening Lights" (Philip Morris, Inc, 1998) (One of my absolute favorite recipe books, even though I'm a vegetarian, found a wealth of veg friendly recipes in there!) - Similiar recipes

Bourtaka Muhallabieh (Orange Custard With Caramel)

Brenda's Favourite Coca Cola Bbq Sauce

This is a thick, rich bbq sauce that I have used for years. It originally was published in a monthly publication in the early 1980s. These little books were called Great Recipes of the World. They seemed to go out of business not long after they first appeared here in Winnipeg. It is fairly easy to upgrade most recipes to a more healthy version by reducing salt and oil. I don't like store bought bbq sauce as they seem to have too much vinegar and salt. I just love this on meat or just spoon over rice. - Similiar recipes

Brined Garlic Dill Pickles

Sauce Provencale Recipe

This sauce recipe was given to me by my mother-in-law. It is an old standard in recipe books that my husband and I savor on a good (or not so good) steak when we want to indulge in all things we shouldn't! To give it even more flavor , when tomatoes are in season, blanch whole plum tomatoes instead of using canned. - Similiar recipes
